Happy Halloween 2011!

   What a fun little Halloween the Borquez boys enjoyed tonight. We kept things completely family oriented and started the night off with Bridget and Larry. Chris Bear had to work so not only did they help me with the Trick-Or-Treating but they played a big part in the treating! We made a stop at their place first so they could give the boys their adorable Halloween bags and surprises. Afterward we headed out to Aunt Vicki and Harold's house. We had a great visit with them. Kal-el spent the entire time munching on a array of goodies. :) We had planned on making a couple more family stops but Uncle Raymond and Uncle Zach are really under the weather right now. Nannie's house was supposed to be our last stop of the night but my sleepy Trick-Or-Treaters didn't quite make it. I'm looking forward to next year when  Logan will be able to participate a little more. Mr. Ketchup got too hot in his costume so he spent most of the night out of it. Kal-el kept referring to him as a "pack of jelly" before we left. I don't think he quite understood that he was Mommy's little small fry and Logan's was my little condiment. We had a great time and I can't wait to do it again next year! Happy Halloween!

Homemade Elmo :)

   Tonight we will be breaking out the official costumes for the boys. French fries and ketchup! I must say they look pretty sweet and silly in their get ups :) We had a little preview of them in attire last Thursday. Tuscumbia has a small celebration on the 4th Thursday of every month called Forth Thursdays, its kind of like First Fridays in Florence. It's smaller scale but still has lots of neat vendors. Well from what I can tell anyway, Thursdays cold drizzly rain kept us from enjoying most of it.It was Halloween themed so I hate we had to leave early.  We didn't miss the best part though and that was going by Captured Studios to have Kal-el and Logan's pictures made in their costumes. I can't wait to share the picture even though I'm pretty sure Super didn't crack a single smile. I can't wait to suit them back up tonight and go trick-or-treating to our friends and families homes! :) Pictures and post to come of course!
    Now on to Elmo. Kal-el's second costume. Well kind of.....my mom had mentioned to me a few weeks back that we should take Super to see Elmo live at the BVC. The show is November 9th and I can't wait to see Kal-el's excitement if we get to go. Saturday at the very last minute I found out that WAFF news was holding a costume contest. Great! I'll submit my fries and baby condiment. Oops then I read further down. "Child must be dressed as a Sesame Street character." I started not to bother but then I looked at the kids already in the contest and while they were positively adorable there were only 5 of them and only one day left to submit a photo! Waff picks two winners. So I thought his odds had to be pretty good. The winner receives 4 tickets to the show..which are a little pricey depending on where you want to sit.  But what drew me to the contest was definitely the VIP backstage pass to meet the characters!!! Kal-el would have a fit! Soooo I had one day to try and locate a Sesame costume or make one myself. Not exactly how I wanted to spend my Saturday. Mom and Larry were already out and about so they stopped by the usual stores. No Elmo to be found...anywhere..not him....not his friends...nothing! So I decided to make an Elmo. Homemade. Thats right, me, some Styrofoam balls, orange paint and a red sweatsuit, toboggan and gloves. Not exactly my greatest skill but I think it turned out pretty cute for what I was aiming for. We managed to bribe Kal-el to wear the wiggly hat and pose for a photo before the entire thing fell apart. Here's the result....Wish us luck in our quest to meet Elmo!!!
