Logan Starts Preschool!

Last Thursday was a big deal in our home. Our sweet baby started preschool! Its only one day a week and it was implemented in hopes that it was help strengthen his language development. The exposure to other children and more structure and stimulation will hopefully encourage him! I was a but of a basket case when we took him. Logan is extremely bright he just doenst say a lot right now. He is still very laid back and but at the same time he has become very active. Stacy, his speech therapist, and I often wonder if its an attention span issue more than anything. Only time will tell of course but he is already making so much progress and we are beyond proud of him. This blog post is going to be mainly pictures of him the day of and night before school. I failed to take many pictures when we went in bc I was too busy playing inspector gadget. Ive learned such an important lesson from Logan while trying to make sure hes "taught". I love the irony of that :) Logan is who he is..hes happy..hes comfortable in his own skin. That part reminds me of myself. A lot. It actually made me reflect that while I really havent changed at all over the years but often times my children get a water down version of me. Im very passionate, dont often censor myself or my thoughts or feelings. Im a great mom but Im not demure. Ive always done things my own way and that includes parenting as well. While Im very by the books on many things..education, medical, safety (goodness am I ever that way on safety) etc Im not at all that way on many things socially...exposure to the arts, music, organized religion in group settings, politics, other social groups etc. And thats fine because thats me. I owe it to my children to really know and understand who their there mom is not a watered down socially acceptable version. Logan has taught me to be ok expressing myself to them. He has no choice but to be himself...as different as he is sometimes...we are a family and thats how it should be. If Im so "real" to everyone else I at least own that to my children. Looking back on my own childhood its one of the things that Im most fond of regarding my own mother. She wasnt exactly the most cookie cutter but thank God for that bc I was allowed to find myself. I see Kal-El doing that himself already :) As much as Ive tried to be very soft with him and "appropriate" his fierce little personality has emerged..unapologetically. They are my teachers this week. My sweet little superheros :)
Back to Logan bc I drifted. He goes every Thursday from 8:30 to 1:30. Kal-El had a melt down to go to school also when we toured the facility so it looks like they will attend together every Thursday. Exciting mile stone for them both. Its so much harder to leave Logan bc of the uncertainty but he seems to do just fine. I find myself worried often about him but I find comfort in knowing that I have what he needs. Strength. He may face many obstacles down the road before he is able to communicate effectively. He needs an advocate not a soccer mom..and I have that in spades little man. His most used work this week is "thanks". Its pretty precious. Ginger is also an inside pet now so we hear "dog" tons to..and of course "Daddy". Sweet boy...I love waiting to hear what he will pick up next. Single words at a time make for bigs smiles around here as simple as that sounds! Cant wait to hear about his progression next week!! :)
His first ever piece of art work! :)
And finally lunch with Nannie and Poppa on his first day sense its so close to their house. We sure do miss seeing them every day almost. Thursdays will be a nice treat for Chris and I to see them! :)

Halloween Fun 2013

This should of probably been two separate blog posts or more but thats not likely to happen no more than I get to sit down lately! We started the Halloween festivities last week. Mom and Larry came over and we baked cookies together. Super had been begging me to dress as a witch so I decided to do it at home rather than to be seen out in public looking half crazy :) We had a fabulous time!
Halloween itself has a little wet and rainy but thankfully severe weather free! The boys dressed as the most obvious characters..to match their names but boy did they both carry it off well. They looked adorable...of course Im biased but they tend to be a hit every time we leave the house!  Logan started a little one day a week school last week (yep I really do need to catch up) and there was a fall festival at his school. I carried Super when we picked Logan up so he could enjoy the festivities as well. They both had a blast there. Chris was off for trick or treating this year and thats always good news :) We carried the boys over to Moms to do a little early trick or treating so they could get their Halloween gifts. Afterwards we headed back to our neighborhood so Logan could get some much needed rest, Chris could pass out candy, and Super and I could go beg for candy....which is exactly what we did :) Kal-El's friend Rayne even dropped by and they knocked on a few doors together. Chris tried desperately to scare a few older treaters to no avail. LOL Poor guy! We had a great Halloween this year..its becoming one of my favorite holidays..prob bc Chris and I are big kids to!
                                Part 2 Halloween Day :D
                                             At Logans school! :)
Chris feeding my pregnant mural a donut! LOL
And even more funny Chris's "costume" ...a struggling Bain/Scarecrow Hybrid!
Happy Halloween!

Happy Birthday Nannie!

Last week we celebrated Nannie's 81st birthday at Fiesta! Per the usual :) We had a great day with her and I'm so grateful to still have her as a part of my life. She has been doing so good these past few weeks and seems more like herself than she has in months. Shes made tons of progress, with not only her recovery from her stroke but her shoulder as well. Hard to believe its been a full year since her peaches and pinup party last year. I enjoyed creating it for her so much and hope to plan another big one for her in the future...esp since she confessed to not really liking peaches lol! Happy birthday Nannie..you are a very special lady and we all love you very much!!
And yes Kal-El attended the party...he was however, refusing photo ops LOL!
