Mommy and Me Photo
I was really happy with our favorite picture choice from the Mommy and me photo shoot by Captured Studios. Kal-el really is such a ham for the camera. He apparently is really photogenic as well because every frame he was in looked precious and quite effortless. I really can't say the same for me lol. Super does not find it one bit challenging to out model Mommy. I was thrilled that this photo came in just in time for Mother's Day. I love being this special boy's Mommy :)

Book of the month- Love you Forever
I've decided to dedicate at least one post a month to the current books in our lives. I have always loved to read. Books are almost magical to me. I would honestly rather go to a new book store than shop or eat. Well maybe the eat part is a lie. But seriously I adore books! I really hope Kal-el shares then same love for words on a page as I do. Chris and I are trying to instill this interest early on. I don't want to be the type that constantly harps on the intellectual advantages. I really want Super to see how fun reading is. There is nothing like getting lost in a book. It's great little escape.
My taste in reading really varies. Mysteries will always be my first love. I love the classics like Agatha Christie. In recent years I have really fallen in love with the genre that is refered to as "cozy mysteries" in particularly culinary mysteries. It's a classic mystery that centers around a character that is usually a caterer/chef that solves the crime. The best part is the mouth watering food references and the actual recipes for them that can be found scattered throughout the book. Mystery and food? The perfect pairing if you ask me. They are a whimsical treat that I highly recommend. If I'm not reading mysteries I love any kind of psychological educational book. I will even, on occasion, pull out some on my old psychology text books from college and refresh a little. I will also have to admit that I have read the Twlight series and actually really enjoyed them. Now I will throw my husband under the bus and admit on his behalf that he has read them as well :) Chris mostly enjoys autobiographies about individuals who have come from trials in their lives and find success. He has read several on Antwone Fisher. I'm glad we share this common interest even if we don't exactly have the same taste in books. He wouldn't be caught dead reading The Cherry Cheesecake Murder LOL!
This brings me to the first book of the month selection. I ordered this book for Kal-el a couple of months back. I must say that I couldn't even read this book to him the first few times without crying while I read it. "Love You Forever" is a very popular children's book but I honestly think it's more for the Mommy than the poor unsuspecting offspring. The mother in the story sort of stalks her baby boy all the way through adulthood. Reviews on the book have been pretty varied. We more than likely won't be reading this one for very long time but I love it so much for right now. Here's the tough part to read without the water works :)
"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
as long I'm living
my baby you'll be."
The book ends with the grown man child cradleing his elderly mother in his arms and repeating the same phrase. So sweet but as you can see this might be a tad bothersome or a bit much for a little one's mind to wrap itself around. It's still a great story about the circle of life.

One, Two, Three, FORK!
Last night at dinner I realised that we may of been unintentionally holding little man back in regards to eating utensils. This was made quite clear when he threw a fit for Mommy's fork. I handed it to him briefly so he could check it out. Super suprised me when he stuck it right into his macaroni and tried to land it in his mouth. My adult folk had to be intercepted b/c it was of course a little too big for his mouth. I walked away with my fork and went to retrieve a more size appropriate option for Kal-el. He once again let me know just how mad this made him. His replacement fork was just eat up with sentimental value. It was my fork when I was his age. He of course isn't remotely aware of this fact but he loved having the fork in his possession all the same. Don't get me wrong almost no food actually made its way to his little chompy teeth but the effort certainly was there. The vast majority landed in his hair, on his cheek, and on the floor but I'm sure we will get this skill refined in a few weeks. He certainly loves mealtime :)
Mommy's fork ..now my FORK :)

Toddler's Best Friend
There aren't too many things anymore sweet than a boy and his dog. Kal-el has three to be exact but here lately he only has eyes for Ginger. Our unassuming ex pound puppy was an unlikely canidate for boy's best friend but she is so so wonderful with him. I keep a close watch of course. Only standing back a little to watch in amazment as he leans in to kiss and hug her. He actually says Ginger more frequently than Mama now *thumbs down* lol He used to kiss US on command now he reserves kisses for Ginger and the occasional pucker for Handy Manny. It's adorable. Ginger, who is very much a human dog, unless your a man...ok so she basicly only really likes children, women, and Chris and she pretty much just tolerates everything else. She is very submissive with Super. She always looks to me for approval then rolls over on her back so Kal-el can pet her tummy. The pats of a sweet 13 months old hands aren't exactly gentle I'm sure but Ginger never seems to mind. I'm so happy that they have formed a friendship that I hope remains close thoughout Super's childhood. I'll be sure to pick up the slack on behalf of the severely neglected Tuggs and Maxx..*wink*

Another Fun Saturday :-)
Aaah Saturday morning! I thought it would never get here. Kal-el and I had a Mommy and Me photoshoot at Captured Studios today in down town Tuscumbia. What a blast! They do such beautiful work and it is a real treat having them so close to home. Every time I schedule us to be somewhere early in the morning on a Saturday I always wonder what in the world is wrong with me when the alarm starts going off. Once the day gets going and I have allowed caffeine to peel back my eyelids I'm usually quite pleased that I didn't spend the early part of my off day in slumber. We got to our 10:00 am appointment just in time. The ladies that run Captured Studios were super sweet and their studio setup is just gorgeous! Super wasn't in his usual model form when the camera was pulled out. Then again it was getting close to his nap time. Thankfully after getting warmed up for a few minutes he began stricking some major poses..lol..thats my boy! He out does me every time. After our session we drove over to Spring Park. Kal-el has been a couple of times before but he is still not quite old enough to enjoy all the new amenities. Mimsy and I just kept it simple and strolled around the park and at least let him take in the scenery on such a beautiful day. Next on the agenda? How did you ever guess..the mall! First we had to stop by Daddy's job and drop off his allergy medication. He has such a rough time once spring hits. Our fingers are still crossed that Kal-el won't inherit this trait. Mimsy and I managed to get a little shopping done and enjoyed lunch at Honeybaked Ham. Super refused any food with the exception of a peanut butter cookie. He doesn't do that much so we let him enjoy it. My little cookie monster :) On our way home we stopped to stock up on some groceries for munchkin. Aunt Shane met us there so she could see her favorite great nephew. He is crazy about her too. He teared up big time when we had to leave. We didn't get our Aunt Shane fix long enough. We need to go see her more! A long but wonderful day. We are now at home munching on mac n cheese, resting, and counting down til Dada gets off!
Getting ready to leave for our photo session
Daddy playing with Kal-el while they get our pictures ready to view
Love their place
Look Super is flying :)
What a beautiful day at Spring Park!
Looking at the waterfall
Sweet cookie face at the mall :)
"Daddy look what Mommy does to me while your at work"
Sorry couldn't resist lol!
Getting tired but holding out for Aunt Shane!
Yay!
