Being the Borquez's: Memorial Day Weekend 2010 !

Wow, what a great, fun filled day! The best part was the same as always ..family time! We even started a new family tradition this year...a pie swap. We spent the entire day swimming and enjoying each others company at Aunt Shanes house. I love my family so much and I don't think we could have had a better time if we tried. We allowed the men to do judge the pies since none of them had baked one of course. They took the task at hand very seriously especially my husband who really gets going when it comes to all things competitive. We had two categories...best looking pie and best tasteing pie. The results are as follows...drum roll please.....the winner for best looking pie went to Aunt Vicki for her Banana Split Pie...the winner for the best tasteing pie went Aunt Shane for her Apple Pie and Mimsy was a close second with her Lemon curd Blackberry Pie. Needless to say we were all on a sugar high! My Strawberry Marshmellow Pie started off really lovely but during the car ride over it melted and when we arrived it looked so pitiful. No pie was neglected though. Afterwards we all went for a swim. Kal-el loved his new float and had so much fun in the water with Daddy. He even got to make a new friend, little miss 9 month old Ava. When we weren't swimming we were playing on the Wee. I always get laughed at because I box like a girl and try to bite my tounge off in the process lol. This was one of those kinds of days you hate to see come to an end. I hope everyone had a happy and safe Memorial Day and I'm so grateful to the men and women who have served and allowed us to enjoy these freedoms.
