Keeping Up with Kal-el- August

- Several new developments have made their way into Super's world this month :)

-He literally gets more loving by the day. He is still my lively, rambunctious boys boy but inbetween running to and fro and will stop to hug and give me kisses..awwwww

- Kal-el has maintained his slight shy streak when it comes to adults but he is ever so fond of other children and he is highly interactive when he comes in contact with them. Perhaps he is need of a sibling.

- He and Ginger are still best buddies but he has also become quite taken with Tuggs as of late.

- He has expressed a major interest in his desire to aquire a larger vocabulary and after a few attempts at relating a message to us he either gets increasingly shy or even loses his little temper if a word doesn't come out the way he had hoped...too cute :)

- He says a word that sounds a lot like "way" but its very drug out like "waaaaaaay" we have NO CLUE what this is but its really adorable so we go around saying it to.

- He is still terrified of the Backyardigans.

- He terrified US when he decided he would climb to the top of our stairs in less than 10 seconds

- He is incredibly athletic but at that same time is quite the elegant little dancer.

- Singing can also be added to his talent resume. He recently has start picking out a note and holding it for a good 10 seconds while he dances lol

- If you laugh at any of the above performances, he WILL cry...you can NOT laugh..turn your head if you must :)

- He calls my Mom "Nana" we are still trying to work on her chosen name "Mimsy" its a bit more challenging to say...may have to shorten it to "Zee" in the mean time.

- He is still in the 95% for weight and height and is currently wearing a 3t....no thats not a typo!

-We love our Super more with each passing month! :)

Lazy Weekend :)

Sometimes you really just need some relaxation time after a long week. We had a faboulous weekend doing....well pretty much nothing and it was wonderful. Chris lucked up and was off Friday and Saturday but unfortunately he needed both days to recuperate from the awful head cold he aquired. He wore the lovely surgical masks we keep on hand to prevent us from passing viruses and buggs to each other. He looked marvelous but he declined a photo op. :) Our original plans for Saturday were to spend the day at Beth and Jason's watching the fight but due to Chris being under the weather we stayed in and caught up on our reading. It was definately a pajama day! Sunday was pretty much the same except Chris had to drag himself back to work. Mom and I chose a repeat on Saturday instead of dragging ourselves to the mall. We only managed to leave the house one time...... you guessed it for some food! Mimsy, Super, and I treated ourselves to some yummy fajitas from Fiesta. When we left we were full and rather sleepy. Kal-el will sometimes put up a fight when he is trying to get to sleep in the car. I suppose it's not exactly comfortable for him. That wasn't the case this time. Sweet boy likes to play with our purses to occupy himself while riding. We noticed how quite Super was when we pulled in the drive way and we turned around to see this.....
He literally fell asleep in seconds....
Yay for cozy Pj's :)
Can't beat Agatha Christie
The one grainy cell phone pic I managed to snap of masked Chris "bear" and danceing Super!
We are all better and well rested for the week ahead!

Happy 82nd Birthday Poppa!

Yesterday my precious grandfather turned 82 years old! Our family celebrated this wonderful man's birthday this past Sunday at our usual Fiesta Mexicana birthday spot. We had such a wonderful time. Looking around the table where our family sat  I realised how blessed we are to still have each other and we are especially grateful for Poppa. I've said before what a remarkable man he is. He is truely one of a kind and I honestly wish everyone had a little of what he has in him. The world would be a better place.  He has made a huge impact in the lifes of so many and he has always set the greatest example for his family. I cherish each and every year that we get to celebrate him.  Happy 82nd Birthday Poppa! We love you so very much!

Strike 3 for the Black Mamba :)

He's baaaaack! The Black Mamba struck again and took home the win in round one with the tried and true rear naked choke. Yay Chris bear! I continue to be his biggest fan and I am so proud of all his hard work and dedication these past few months of training. It really shows when he steps into the ring. The night was NOT without issues however. After our team's last fights in Tennesse I thought the Don't Blink team wouldn't make anymore apperances in this venue due to several issues mainly having to do with ref inadequacies and our fighters safety. Chris had already agreed to take this fight being that initially it was to be a title fight so we had to go. Hopefully the next one will be a title shot. On top of everything this particular fight was held at the county fair. (insert random sterotypes here)
When we arrived in our favorite state ( insert sarcasm here) I was hit with the realization that yes were were in fact walking into a FAIR in the RAIN with mud and dirt EVERYWHERE. The promotor rescued us in his van and drove us to the arena. That is the only nice thing I can say about him so I will cease discussion on how I feel he runs his events. Laura and I went to grab a seat while the boys warmed up and had the fighters meeting. While we chatted and waited for Beth and Jason to arrive we got to enjoy the company of near by PRISONERS who were setting up the site with the equipment. No, I'm not kidding. Thank God they left. Guess the sheriffs dept wanted to put them to work. I was so happy to see Beth, Jason, and Zac when they arrived. My good mood continued until Beth got a severe weather alert on her phone. Those that know me well enough have prob already begun to laugh as you read this sentence because you know I'm a total spaz when it comes to inclimate weather. I didn't disappoint in the hysterics department this time either. Things slowly went from dreadful to OMG it's the end... as the sky turned black and we all sat helpless with only a single roof over our heads. Wind was gushing in from all sides bring the cold rain with it ...a few things turned over, some people scatted, others screamed...ok I screamed..and we all huddled together on METAL bleachers. Chris was safe and sound inside the other building. The one that had WALLS while I was fighting for my life. Yes I'm being dramatic but it really was terrifing. I almost squeezed Beth's arm off as I tried to recite the Lord's Prayer but I was so disappointed in myself when I couldn't remember it and instead stupid random Lil Wayne songs kept popping into my head. I vowed to get up for church the following morning if I lived through this TORNADO. Everything eventually calmed down. I was so grateful. I really wanted to be with Chris and I was so thankful that my sweet baby was at home with Mimsy and they were safe and out of harms way. After the comotion ceased there was a huge delay in getting the fights started. When everything was finally dried off and set back up there was an announcement that more 60 mile per hour stright line winds were headed in our direction. Oh great! My legs turn to jello again.  They moved us into the adjacent building were the fighters were and I was finally reunited with Chris. He looked at me like he felt bad for me but I could tell part of him wanted to laugh. He told me everything was going to be fine and and called me his favorite pet name for me, DRAMA lol. :) After a false alarm (thank God) and a 2.5 hour delay the show finally got started.
It didn't get much easier watching our first fighter take a loss but he worked so hard and showed tons of heart so I'm sure the results will be much different next time he steps in the cage. Our other two guys didn't get to fight. There were no shows and other issues. Chris's fight was finally starting and I'm so glad it was over in a minute and 20 seconds because my nerves couldn't handle much more. He now has a flawless record of 3-0. I know that he may not always win and the fights will get harder as his skill level improves and he fights even tougher contenders but I'm so glad he has been victorious so far. We were all very tired and weary and ready to LEAVE Columbia. Hopefully for a very long time. The Black Mamba will more than likely strike again in October. Don't Blink :)
Two beautful rainbows on the drive over, same thing happend on the drive to the last fight.
