This month's book selection is Kal-el's very first mystery! It stars Mickey Mouse and the clubhouse gang. Super adores Mickey and the fact that this book is a pop-up is an added bonus. There are several books in this series so I can't wait to get him a few more. Super has recived quite a collection of books lately from friends and family. I look forward to featuring several of them in the near future!

Keeping Up with Kal-el September
- Kal-el has a total shoe obsession (not the slightest clue where this comes from ;-) ..he tries on EVERYONES shoes...we can't leave any around...especially Mommy's..that would be quite a fall!
- He now calls Mimsy..."Zee Zee" It's a shortened version thats super easy for him to say. They have the cutest little ritual that they do when he says it. Kal-el will stick his one little finger up in the air and shout "Zee Zee". My mom will come over and stick hers out to him and they touch pointer fingers...kind of like E.T...it's so precious.
- Super has alot of fun whispering to us....if it gets quiet in a room ...rarely but it does happen.... he'll look sheepishly over at Chris and I and say "Mama/Dada".
- When Mimsy drinks coffee Kal-el practically begs for some. He wants to do everything that we do. She will wait for it to cool down and then lets him dip is little finger in it. He's really not getting anything because it falls off his finger but everytime he does it he says "Mmmmmmm" :)
- He loves when we go for walks in the village in the evening. He's favorite part is pointing out all the cats and dogs in the neiborhood. Sometimes he gets them confused. Sweet baby boy!
- Instead of cuddling with his stuffed animals more often then not we find him loving on his little plastic basketballs when he's sleepy...total boy :)
-He is such a solid built baby....Super's never had much mushy baby fat even though he's very heavy..he actually looks toned and has little muscles in his legs and his sweet arms..I'm going to have to chase lots of little girls away!
- He's at a phase where he likes getting in trouble. He is very mischievous and so cute when he gets caught :)
- He is still the most loveing baby ever...He huggs on us all the time!
- He is now tired of his once loved Blueberry Muffin Pop-tarts :)
-Happy Meal french fries are a much loved treat for Super
-He has every single tooth in now!

Illegal Activities at the Drive-In....
It's been almost a year since Chris and I have been to our local drive in movie. Friday night we decided to load Kal-el up ...along with some snacks and head out to see what features were playing. We always enjoy going there. It's like going back in time and being part of another era. Really neat. As we pulled in to a nice little spot on the grass I noticed that there were only a few cars in attendance. I think its a better experience when its not overly crowded.
A few minutes prior the first feature starting Chris decided he wanted some pop corn. It seemed to be takeing a little longer than what I would of expected so I started getting a bit bored and restless. To combat those feelings I do what I usually do and that's pull out a camera and start takeing pictures of Super and whatever it is that we are doing for blog purposes! I started snapping away at Kal-el, who wasn't too thrilled about it. His little mind was focused on the fact that Daddy wasn't in the car this us. When I was getting ready to take my third picture I was startled by a loud tapping sound on my window. "Just a second" I said thinking it was Chris, I must of locked him out when he went for pop corn. I glanced over and then jumped a little when I saw it was a strange man peering in the glass. I just glared at him. He tapped again. I prayed Chris would come back soon and choke him out :) I let the window come down about two inches and thats when I was given the third degree. "Uh Miss do you know what your doing is highly illegal?" I was a bit taken back by this remark and kind of wanted to laugh in his face but I held it in. "What am I doing?" I asked in disbelief. "Well you have your camera out here and thats illegal and I need you to put it away right this second!" Oh wow was this guy really doing this. "Ummm ok sure..whatever" I mumbled. Didn't know it was illegal to take pictures of MY child BEFORE the movie even started. I understand that Barney Fife was just trying to do his job in protecting the world from copyright infringement but geez what did he think I was going to do take a picture of every frame of the movie. It's a camera not a VIDEOcamera and besides..THE MOVIE HASN'T STARTED!

By the time Chris came back to the car all the excitement was over. I had just enough time to share the story before the feature started. I don't know what it is about me but I always run into these authoritarian types lol. Despite me getting "in trouble" we had a wonderful time. I hope we are able to go at least one more time before it closes down for the fall/winter season. I guess I'll just have to leave my camera at home next time!
Sweet Super waiting on DaDa to return
*Pre window tap smile :)
You obviously understand why I only have two pictures to post !

Big Boy Toddler Bed!
Yesterday Chris converted Super's crib into a toddler bed. Even though he spends alot of nights snuggled up in our bed we knew that he could and WOULD climb out of his crib at the first opportunity that arose. He's a very big boy and EXTREMELY athletic. We couldn't deal with the thought of him takeing a big tumble like that so the transformation had to happen!
Last night when we arrived home from the drive in movie Kal-el was already fast asleep so Chris and I decided we would try to lay him in his new big boy bed just to test the waters. I think it's fair to say that we drowned during the test. Munchkin was NOT a happy superhero at this point. We worked with him a little while to no avail and then decided that we might have better luck if we started off with day time naps and did a gradual progression. We will get there soon but right now it's a work in progress!

5 Things I will miss about Summer...
Today is the last day of Summer!
While I've made it no secret that I look forward to fall there are definitely a few things that I will miss about the Summer season!
1) Daylight Savings- I hate to loose day light hours and when it gets dark at 5:00 pm I'll probably go bonkers. The thing I will miss most about having a couple more hours of sunshine has to be our evening strolls in the village with Kal-el. But I'm sure we can come up with some kind of activity to replace this :)
2) Kal-el's barefeet- They are just too cute not to miss. We play lots of "This lil Piggy" before I put his shoes on for the day. Sometimes he gets mad at the heat and takes them off himself while we are riding in the car. I know next year his foot may be as big as Mommy's!
3) Wathing Super Swim Whether it's over at Aunt Shane's pool or in his own little plastic pool Kal-el had so much fun in the water this summer. We love our little fish.
4) Strawberries! - They will be out of season soon :( It's the only healthy snack that I actually like better than dessert. It IS a dessert to me and it's low carb friendly. Couple of packs of Splenda and low fat cool whip and it's the best summer time treat ever. Cold weather makes me think of fruit cobblers. Cobblers expand my waistline. Not good lol
5) Summer Sandles- Generally speaking I like fall apperal much more than summer. I just find it the perfect blend of stylish and cozy. The one exception to this is summer sandles. While I love boots, I really enjoy all the variations in styles and not to mention the simplicity of sliding into a shoe as opposed to socks and zipping etc.
So there you have it. My favorites for the summer. See you next year extra sunshine, cute toddler feet, hot Mommy shoes, swimming pools , and Strawberries! See you tomorrow Fall!

Last Weekend of the Summer
Today marks the last weekend of the summer. Fall is right around the corner, even if it doesn't seem that way with the scorching sun bearing down causing temps to remain at an almost unbearable 95 degrees. On one hand this outrageous heat so late in the season suprises me but then again this state is no stranger to these types of summers. I'm a fall/winter person all the way. I'm more than happy to kiss summer so long until next year when I'm forced to deal with it again. :)
We had a nice relaxing weekend inspite of the extremely warm weather. I've enjoyed Chris's schedule as of late. He is off Friday's and Saturday's for the time being so its nice to spend time together during the day. Friday night Mimsy wanted to watch Super so Chris and I decided to catch a movie. We picked a scary one, which I usually don't like, HOWEVER this one was not cliche and ended up being quite thought provoking.
Saturday morning Chris got up early and decided to go play some paintball with Brian. I hung out with Kal-el and Mimsy. We managed to get some serious shopping done and I must say that I really scored on the Halloween decor. I'm so excited! I get border line OBSESSIVE when it comes to themes and especially holidays. I'm pumped that Super will get to enjoy the festivites this year unlike last year when he was still a bit young to partake in the fun. Chris and I went back to Brian and Shannon's Saturday evening for dinner. The guys were still enjoying shooting each other with paint while Shannon and I played with her girls and chatted on the porch. Shannon is expecting their third little girl any day now. We enjoy spending time with them and I love exposing Chris to a household full of little girls. I need to try to get him used to the idea of a little Lauren. Can't imagine why he thinks that might be trouble ;) In the midst of our girl talk Shannon and I realise that the boys have gotten a little too close to the house with their shooting. As we get up to make our way in the house I felt a little sting but didn't think much of it. Once we were inside Shannon said "Oh wow were you hit?" I mumbled that I didn't think so. We both looked down at the side of my shirt and realised that I had in fact been hit. " Girl your tough" Shannon said. We laughed so hard. I was hit with ORANGE paint the color in my husband's gun. Needless to say he spent the rest of the night apologizing profusely even though I wasn't hurt. I'm tough stuff :) Not only with takeing hits but apparently with poker as well. I played for the first time and won just about everytime after dinner. The funniest part was that the deck of cards had puppies on them so instead of paying attention to the hand I would call out dog names. Chris was so distressed that I was winning this way. "Oh look babe a basset hound ..I'm all in!" Insert eye roll here ;) I got exposed to some new things and we had a great night with very dear friends.
Sunday morning Chris had to report back to work.....with POISON IVY no less. He is allergic to everything it seems and hours spent in the woods rubbing up against poisionous plants caused some major misery for him. He took some benadryl and headed out. My mom and I decided to take Kal-el down to the park and have a little BBQ lunch there. The replica ships of the Nina and Pinta were still docked at Mcfarland so we took a look at them and then headed to the play and picnic area. We played and ate for as long as we could endure the heat and then we were homeward bound. What a great way to close the summer...now come on fall! :)
