As you know this blog is now private. It is definitely a decision I've debated for some time. If you are here reading..welcome :) So happy that each of you enjoy stories about our little family. I'm happy to lovingly keep you in the loop!
This coming Saturday is Poppa's big vintage boxing party. It has almost not happened several times. I had a major issue with my former printables designer . She approached me a few months back about donating paper goods( free of charge) for my next party because she loved my theme idea and hoped the party would get featured. I agreed. Once her designs were complete she literally tried to claim this entire concept as her own just because she designed the printables for me. I even supplied the boxing glove image for her to use for the posters and described precisely what I needed on my three 20x30 posters as well as a boxing cat image *I* found for the invites. In spite of this she told me the party needed to be promoted for her business and I would be a mere footnote as a stylist listed on HER website. This was NEVER mentioned in our agreement. I take a lot of pride in my parties and I'm not in the business of handing them over to someone else on a silver platter. It's truly been a nightmare. She took issue with me opening my new business page Capes and Crowns for my party planning. She felt it would be competition for her. Not sure how that even makes sense because I don't do printables. I style parties AND in another state. I even offered to submit in both our names even though it broke my heart. She is starting a new website herself and hopes to eventually style parties with her printables but she didn't style mine. I did. From start to finish. This is very much my baby. I slept on it and there was NO WAY I could bare the thought of her claiming even a part of my work. She is entitled to claim the printables she made for my event and that is all. I decided to completely discontinue her from this project once she started threatening me with the fine print on her new website that she made amendments to state that her products could not be used in any way to promote another business..not even on a personal blog. A very shady agreement that she tried to change the terms of entirely once the projects were complete. In light of all the issues surrounding the party I must say its been worth it in the grand scheme of things. I've met some amazing, talented, and truly professional women in this industry that have really reached out and embraced me. Miranda at Whimsical Printables was kind enough to take on the project last minute and quite literally saved the day. Her work far surpassed the originals and I'm more excited than ever about this party. It seems as though the original printables person is still trying to stir up trouble by saying someone is "taking " her designs. My entire life I always assumed that to be involved in any type of dispute of this nature that each party involved had to be partly to blame. I know now that everyone does not operate with integrity and honesty and I will certainly be more careful in the future. I'm going to press forward and try my best to focus on the positive. In a way its definitely a compliment that I'm just starting this venture and so many people are taking note. Most importantly the party will go on ...because its for my grandfather. I can not wait to share it with you guys!
We took these home for dress up...it is our anniversary and all...I kid ;)
She couldn't stop laughing ;)
