I'm THRILLED to have survived last week. No joke it was rough. It was so much stress at once and had we not already survived it it might of been more than I could stand to blog about it. Kal-El started getting sick a week from this past Sunday. I suspected strep throat because he literally cried out every time he ate or drank and held his saliva in his cheeks to avoid swallowing. As the day drug on it wasnt getting any better but since it was Sunday I decided to take him to Med Plus to get him swabbed and hopefully get some relief started for him. As I was just about to lad the car up I noticed something strange from inside the house. Laying in our drive way was a random pair of reading glasses. Odd. I looked again and caught a glimpse of a watch. I thought..umm thats Nannie's. Then I peaked further out the door and there was Nannie..sitting in our drive way. I knew she had fallen. I called for Chris to come help Poppa get her out of the drive way. Her shoulder was hurting her pretty badly. Poppa decided to take her to the ER to have it xrayed. I went ahead and took Super to the ER since Med Plus had a 2 hour wait. Family Reunion at the ER. Good times. Not.
Literally my entire family was there. The doctor that treated Kal-el was so kind. His strep test came back negative. We suspected just something viral and Kal-El was being a bit dramatic. I was happy to leave at that point but for some reason an RSV nasal test was ordered. In a pediatric setting it typically would not be tested on a child over 2 so I wasn't sure the reason but it was a simple swab so I thought why not. Nothing was simple about it. For some reason they collect the nose sample via shooting a solution into the nose and suctioning it back out in lieu of a quick swab of the nose. It took 3 nurses to hold Kal-El down for a stupid viral test that would be treated anyway. I was just about to tell them to stop when the nurse(who was desperate to get the sample at any cost) jabbed it all the way up his nose and actually tore into the lining. Blood gushed everywhere...out of his nose, filled his mouth...it was AWFUL....an absolute nightmare. I was trying to calm my baby down while my mother was on the other end of the room being combative with the nurse. Two rooms down Nannie has a confirmed broken shoulder. Just awful. The kind doctor came back in and fixed Kal-El up and give him some home made cookies. Wouldn't you know he ate them like a champ with zero indication of a sore throat. Guess it fared lightly compared to screaming in pain for an hour :( Bless his heart. He walked out worse then he came in. I felt lousy.
Over the course of the next week the rain kept coming. Logan ended up with the same awful virus of course. Chris and I have had one of those rough spousal weeks. Nannie has had to have around the clock care and its been a major set back. My precious Aunt Shane had some test results come back that we are very concerned about. Just a rough week. Summed up by one word STRESS. I know one thing though. We will get though this. Every single one of us and we will do it together because we love each other and thats what families do. When a few are weak at a certain time they get carried by their faith and the stronger family members and the cycle fluctuates. We are here for each other and thats what matters. As a matter of fact things are already looking up. Nannie and Poppa had their first successful night alone last night, Chris and I had a fun scary movie date night, and the boys are both feeling so much better and are ready for a fun night of Trick- Or -Treating!
My sweet tough boy :)
Excuse the cell phone quality...not even *I* take a camera to the ER lol

Casual Family Pictures From Nannie's Party!
Now that I have lovely Danielle in my life I sometimes forget to pull out my little point and shoot out! I'm always glad I end up using it however, because shoots of my sweet family are priceless to me and I know every shot can't be be technically perfect but perfectly heart felt. We had a great time at her party and Chris even got to attend along with Nannie and Poppa's good friends. I also had Danielle and Rachel stay. They are always apart of my events and I love collaborating with them. We have become friends at this point so it was nice to sit and have a chat with them after all of our hard work was complete! My goal in the next couple of years is to have a special party for every member of my family. They are the very reason I love party planning so much. Here are a few snapshots from Nannie's party. I've got lots of blogging to get caught up on in the mean time. Here's the first of 5! ;)
My rotten Superhero, Christian (Rachel's son( and Charlie (Danielle's little girl). They ran and played the entire time and had a BLAST!

Nannie's Peaches & Pinup Party! (Pro Pics)
Such a special day for a special lady! I'm truly honored and feel so blessed to me able to celebrate her and have a party to honor 80 years of birthdays for my precious grandmother! With her stroke this past June I was unsure if she would even be able to come back home. She's amazed us all once again with her strength. She wasn't able to attend Poppa's party in August because she was still in rehab so there was no way that I was not going to throw her an equally fabulous birthday bash. She is such a big part of my life and the matriarch of our close knit family. She is absolutely beautiful inside and out and even though she doesn't look anywhere near 80 she had a very peachy 80th Birthday! :)
Here's the submission write up and vendor credits for her Peaches & Pinup Party:
Planning my grandmothers 80th birthday was such a joy. After my grandfathers vintage boxing party there was no way that I could forgo an opportunity to make her day special as well! It was a bit of a surprise in the since that I asked her to pick out her favorite fruit and I would take it from there. When she replied "peaches" I immediately thought of peaches and lots of peach gingham. Pinups also came to mind because they were popular in her younger years and she is and was an absolutely lovely woman so "Peaches & Pinups" became the theme! I wanted every thing to be very feminine looking and soft. The color palette was almost exclusively peach with a few green leaf accents. Everything turned out perfect thanks to a precious lady that I was happy to honor and an amazing list of vendors that made this day possible and extra peachy!
