Mother Daughter Banquet 2010

Last night marked the third year that the ladies in my family attended the annual Mother Daughter Banquet at our church. I always look forward to attending. We had tons of fun! This year was centered around a Hawaiian theme. The decor was really adorable, the food was delicious, and of course we laughed til we cried. I must say that we were a little less rowdy this year then in previous years I'm sure those sitting around us were quite thrilled with that fact. Kal-el didn't mind it one bit that he was the only boy in attendance. He was too busy absorbing all the detail and taking in everything around him. He only had one request during the evening. He kept saying Dada..Dada..Dada... He is a Daddy's man. He wasn't really in much of a picture taking mood. There were just too many fun distractions. So whenever we needed to get a shot of Super we would all say "Where's Daddy? Look Daddy! " Mean women lying at church lol ;). A wonderful night with the wonderful women in my family, no men(with the exception of a really cute 2.6 foot one), an array of desserts, what could be better you ask? I even made it home in time to watch Lost :)

Keeping up with Kal-el - May

Since our little super hero is constantly growing and makeing new discoveries in this big world around him I've decided to dedicate one monthly post to his latest developments, this enables me to keep a better record of the small things that I treasure so much!

   - So far Super is still left handed like Mommy

   - He recently has become a strawberry fanatic, while at the same time has become increasingly picky with his "old" favorite foods. We have succeeded in completely burning him out on blueberry pancakes

   -  He gives kisses on command but its not very consistant unless of course your Ginger and she doesn't even have to ask

   - Lately a shy streak has emerged, usually with strangers but he'll even play coy and flirt with me and hide his little face.

    - He still on occasion will "love bite" us with no warning..ouch :)

   - Speaking of teeth we are getting two jaw teeth in this week..no fun for anyone

   - He LOVES walking, and playing chase he has even broken into a slight run following me.

-He has a toy phone that we got him for his birthday but he still prefers to playwith ours..when he gets my phone he holds it right up to his ear and in that adorable little raspy, all boy voice of his says "DADA" over and over he obviously wants to talk to his Daddy

- As of this month here are the words Kal-el says on a regular basis: Dada, Mama, Goo gurl Geeensger(good girl Ginger), and he has a few words that he has said once or twice that got us all really excited ..those words are..Mimsy, Poppa, Na Na (Nannie), dog, nose.

- As noses go he can now point his as well as Handy Manny's out..we are working on the other features

- Super has learned that he can mess with me by calling me "DaDa" from cross them room and giggles hysterically as I say "NO! MaMa!" lol :)

- He now throws his hands in the air and dances to really great urban music courtesy of Mommy and Mimsy

- He has out smarted us all by removing the safety wall plugs from the sockets and making me chase him. He got in trouble yesterday. He saw me going towards him with the plug in his little hand he actually ran back over to the wall and tried desperately to return the plug to its rightful place so he wouldn't get scolded. I was laughing so hard I couldn't if I had to!

-He squints his eyes at us playfully all the time!

Weekend Review

It's even more hard for me than usual to except that this weekend is almost over. The reason primarily being because for the last week I have somehow gotten it stuck in my head that THIS Monday was Memorial Day. Not sure what's wrong with me, for this holiday has always been at the END of May. This misunderstanding of mine is further proof that I am completely insane and certainly would not of made my usual grand apperance at work on Monday making me an obvious target for endless jokes :) Yay! I do wish I had another day of family time.  I find myself trying to rush the weekend every week. We had a really nice relaxing weekend just how I like them!
Friday night we meet Dada for dinner at the Cracker Barrel. Kal-el was in rare form for our dining experience. He has a new habit of being VERY vocal when we go out to eat. He hates for any unsuspecting soul not to be fully aware of his presence. We try to hush him and keep him preoccupied often times to no avail. Thankfully many people found him quite endearing. Chris had to be back at work after we ate so Mimsy and I decided to take Super to the mall for one of his favorite treats. He loves loves loves Orange Julius's Strawberry Xtreame smoothie. His new favorite food is strawberry anything..but just this week he has developed a love for the fruit itself. I adore strawberries he so gets this taste from Moms. Mimsy and I needed to get some shopping done for the upcoming Hawaiian themed Mother Daughter Banquet this  Tuesday at our church. Luckily we both found what we were looking for. We left knowing we would more than likely have to return the next day to finish up shopping for little man. The Mother Daughter Banquet is usually reserved for mothers and daughter specifically but this year Super gets to come because Daddy and Great Poppa wont get to do their annual catfish outing while the ladies are at the church because of Chris's work schedule. I may have to sneak munchkin in in a hula skirt. Kidding Chris lol :)
Saturday Mimsy and I both had a craving for Sweet Basil's Red white and Blue salad so off we went for a yummy lunch before finishing up day two of shopping in our quest for something tropical themed for Kal-el to wear Tueday. My sweet husband got off early and declined to join us in our quest. I can't imagine why! Following lunch was a trip to Kohl's in an effort to find Super some sandals. He found some alright and they all found their way to the floor. Uh oh we picked up the pieces and evacuated the primasis. We found the perfect outfit with adorable matching sunglasses at the last stop of the day. Isn't that always how it goes? When I got home Chris and I had a few hours to rest before heading over to some of our friends house to watch the much anticipated Mayweather vs Mosley fight. I love boxing and I have always been a huge Mayweather fan but a part of me really wanted Mosley to win because I feel that Floyd needs a huge slice of humility handed to him. At this time I will decline to go into the story about how neurotic I acted over the tornado warning lets just say that Kellie's husband seemed a bit perplexed about me pacing the floor and my poor spouse is never suprised about any of my antics! I really do have so much anxiety in regards to severe weather. That quite possibly might of been the understatement of this year. :) In spite of the weather drama and Mayweather winning wonderful time was had by all and we enjoyed the time spent with our precious friends.
Sunday was spent doing some major resting and lots of nap/movie time on the couch in pj's while listening to the rain. On second thought I may still observe Memorial Day tomorrow :)
Playing with Daddy's straw he threw a fit for..guess he won that round ;)
Look at his face..mean baby lol
