Oregon Babies!

Well last night may not of gone the way we wanted it to but we still LOVE our Oregon Ducks in this house! We certainly didn't expect to not come away with the win but thats football. I blame it on us not being able to watch as a united front with Chris being on the road ;) Winning lasts night game would of put us at #1 but instead an upset occurred. Stanford was able to pull it off with a field goal in overtime. I never disrespect or put down other teams. Especially college teams that have "kids" on their rosters. It's not like they are playing for millions but oddly they feel the same amount of pressure all while trying to earn an education and be judged by the bubba has been couch potatoes of the world. This to shall pass...in life and in football..thats true whether your on the losing or winning end. What amazes me is what the young men on either our team or an opposing team have to say about a win. They are usually so graceful, thoughtful, and considerate when addressing their win or loss. It makes me wish that grown adult fans would conduct themselves with more class and act accordingly.  Sadly, sometimes I'm embarrassed of my state and their lack of regard for others and how it runs a little deeper than football. But I digress. Oregon has very big things happening for them on the road ahead. I almost hope we can hold out just a little longer on the BCS title because I want my little duckies to be able to enjoy it. Hopefully they will be enjoying it from Autzen Stadium Or better yet ...play in it ;) But for now they can just be content enjoying Puddles and learning about the game itself. Go Ducks!

My Sick Seal!

Sunday night I woke up from a sound sleep and thought I was at Sea World. Poor Super was coughing very hard..in a very high pitched unmistakeable sound. I knew instantly he had croup. I didn't know much about croup but the sound was so indicative of what I vaguely remember hearing that I got up and looked it up to confirm. He also ran a fever in the night. It never got higher than 101. Thank goodness! I got up the next morning and carried him in to see Dr. Melvin.
He didn't cough that much in the office but I could tell he was just not feeling well. He did manage a smile at his favorite pretty nurse when she wasn't looking. She carried us back to the room so she could make a note of his symptoms. I went through everything with her then looked down at my child and smiled sweetly at him and patted his head. This gesture of love was met with resistance in the form of him pulling away from me, giving me the evil eye, and finally telling me (without cracking a smile) "You don't ever call me that!"...Repeat 3x. Louder each time. I had no clue what he was referencing to until the nurse figured it out. She said "I think he's talking about when you called him a seal" LOL We both had a huge laugh...well except for Kal-El who was embarrassed at age 3 because I made him look made in front of a girl. Slow down Romeo!
Dr. Melvin came in, listened to him, confirmed croup, and looked at his ears. He was sporting a double ear infection as well. We made our way home with meds in hand and prepared to rest for the next couple of days. We did just that. Chris has been off and we took advantage and had lots of family movie nights. Unfortunately, Wednesday night things took a turn for the worst. Super was really not resting well and his breathing was more labored than what I felt comfortable with so I decided to take him to the ER. He had a little bit of stridor and was a tad wheezy so I really wanted him to have a steroid shot. Chris watched sweet Logan and I headed over with our oldest Superhero. Aunt Vicki met us there. After Kal-El's last trip to the ER its safe to say he hates it there. He begged me from the time we walked in if we could please leave....He also told the first nurse that walked in to get our information "Puleeze don't hurt me" UGH Talk about heart breaking. His oxygen saturation was wonderful but they went ahead and gave him a breathing treatment and steroid shot since he was so symptomatic. He literally sounded 10x better by the time we left. I pulled the car around for he and Aunt Vicki and I will never forget what an adorable sight it was to see him and her. They were holding hands walking to the snack machine and Super was walking with a stiff leg even though it had been a full hour since his shot. LOL My sweet dramatic man. I had to laugh. :)
We came home and all four of us had a good nights rest. I stayed awake long enough to make sure my baby sounded like he was resting peacefully and then out I went to! I thought Logan might be coming down with it but hopefully he won't get croup since the virus that causes it doesn't always manifest that way. Cant stand when my little ones get sick but so greatful they are healthy and able to fight off what comes their way.
"No she DIDN'T just call me a seal?"
"She has no clue what she's talking about ...trust."
"Keep on"
"Noooo shots pleeeassee"
