Happy Birthday Poppa!

Last week we celebrated Poppa's Birthday at my moms house. We decided on brunch complete with breakfast casserole, scones, fresh fruit, and never to be forgotten birthday cake. I was proud of myself for staying on my diet by eating tiny portions of the array of goodies. We sure did miss Chris Bear. He was called out to work and didnt make it back in time to celebrate one of his best friends bdays :) I can't believe Poppa is 85 now. I feel so blessed to have him in all of our lives still. I also can't believe its been a full year sense his boxing party! I'm amazed by him more every year. He has been thru so much in the past year and does it all without a single complaint. He is forever in my heart. We love you Poppa. Happy 85th birthday :)

Skittle and Summer!

I waited a bit to post about our two new aquatic additions for obvious reasons. I say that in jest because these new creatures are ones we are very familiar with....African Clawed frogs. As a matter of fact my mom still has a male that I practically grew up with! He's AT LEAST 13 yrs old and they are very hardy. I was surprised and happy to see them at the pet store! In case you haven't guessed by now Breathy....stopped...well, breathing lol! We can dangerous close to purchasing a guinea pig or chinchilla so Chris and I breathed a huge sign of relief when we saw these guys. They were labeled wrong, as pet stores often do, but I recognized them right away. I wont bore you with the details but they had all the features and distinctive markings including the little black claws in back and non webbed front hands. Precious. Im weird I know. There was one very bright colored frog among the others. They called him a "candy" frog but he was also a clawed frog. I assumed it was a genetic mutation and Super was in love with that one and named it Skittle before we could get out the door. He chose a non colorful one as well and named him Summer :) When I got home I researched the coloring of Skittle only to find that they are DYED that color. I was NOT happy. Its unnecessary and cruel and most likely hurts :( He will pron fade back to his natural color in a few years which is fine by us. They are actually illegal in some states. They grow pretty large and people will toss them in ponds are lakes and bc they are so hardy and eat anything they destroy the eco structure of the waters wherever they go! They are a neat read up and very cool little frogs. We are just happy that something in water can survive...even in the Borquez house!
Have you hugged a frog today? lol :)
See the claws on his little back legs :)

Accoutability

I absolutely hate that I'm having to write this for myself...most of you will probably want to just ignore and I'll be back to the pictures of the kiddos next post! I just know that I need to put my starting point down semi publicly or I might end up falling of the wagon. I've started low carb back for the first time sense baby #2. I could punch myself in the face for not doing it earlier because it works so fast, so well, and it stays off for me but I have been SO unmotivated to get back in shape after having Logan. Well to be frank I'm not sure that I've even been "fit" but I've had a figure and good genes..now I cant get in mine! Bahaha sorry I love a good pun. But seriously I'm not hard enough on myself...I do ok in confidence department...really... I'm kind of like a boy...I took "before" pictures a month ago in an attempt to start the journey and while I thought I'd cringe I didn't. I actually thought "go girl nothing wrong with that" and ate a cobbler that night...FAIL LOL! Told you I was like a boy.  Truth is I'm happy regardless my identity is not wrapped up in my appearance...been fly, modeled, been 20, over that but I need to be healthier for my children. I have two boys..life is going to require me to be pretty psychical and I love that and want to keep up. I hate to even blame pregnancy and kids as a reason for gaining weight while it does happen during that time its pretty easy for it not to as well..if your mindful. I wasn't...I'm a foodie and I got DOWN. I loved every second to lol I'm not saying that to be cute I'm a very hardy eater so much so that if I didnt eat like a grown man I would be very small naturally. I'm a passionate immediate gratification kind of person...Kal-El senior lol so it makes it a challenge.  Keeping it off has always been extremely easy for me so Ive just got to get there the first time! I'm not into the life style change or fitness extremest. I'll take a little toning here and there but I want to look like a girl...one that has curves....which I dont have a shortage of but I need to get rid of the extra fluff. Feel me? Plus the last TWO times I've been to to the doctor my blood pressure has been borderline elevated. Not cool. It runs on both sides of my family and I dont want to be on meds barely entering into the second year of my 30's. I'm an old soul so I get content really fast but I dont want to make any more excuses for short changing my health bc its hurting instead of truly helping. I posted a couple of times on FB about starting low carb and have had a couple of questions. Feel free to message me, if you have a question. I'll answer if I know it and share recipes as I come across those I love :) I've done this diet many times in the past bc its effective and my body responds really well to it..I cant speak for everyone on that. For some people the weight comes back on after they eat etc etc...I'm not saying it works for everyone but it does wonders for me. Today marks week one and Im down 6lbs! I can't deal with a 2 lb a week diet Id fail miserably with something that slow going..thats why.....Dr Adkins is my homie....for the next 3 months and strawberries are my berry best friend :D

                                               LOL Pretty much ;)
