Fabulous 4th!

Family, friends, and food best describe the events for this years 4th of July. Saturday night Chris and I went over to a friends house to watch the fights. We had a great time except for the fact that we really missed Kal-el once we saw a few other children were in attendance. Super was in very good hands while we were gone. He loves spending time with Mimsy. The following morning, July 4th came very bright and early via Kal-el's internal alarm clock that started going off like a snooze button at 20 min intervals starting at 6:00am. So by the time 7oclock rolled around we were officially awake! I was a little sad that we didn't have any real plans with all the family this year for the 4th. The whole bunch usually grills out or swims but not everyone was in town and we just couldn't seem to make any plans stick for the rest of us. I stood it as long as I could then I talked to Mom and we decided that we would just have a  small celebration at our house and have Nannie and Poppa join us for some hamburgers and hotdogs. Chris said he would also make sure that we had fireworks for Kal-el. This news made me very happy :) It's the little things! So Mimsy and I headed out to get some supplies for our little gathering. Chris had to go in to work a short shift. When he got off  Kal-el and I were going to meet up with him to pick out our fireworks for the evening. We had the grill going in no time and the table set and ready to go.  I loaded little man up and we meet Daddy at one of the firework stands so Kal-el could "point" at the fireworks he liked. We grabbed a few that we thought were family friendly enough. Is that an oxymoron? Family friendly firework? It's at least an alliteration :) We headed back home with explosives in the car so we could later watch our money explode in the air in an array of beautiful colors lol. We ended up having such a wonderful evening despite orginally having no plans. As a matter of fact its was one of the best 4ths ever. Had our entire family been there it would of been just perfect. Kal-el's reaction to the fireworks was a little more sullen than I would of anticipated. He was neither scared or thrilled about the colorful explosions. I really enjoyed them and thought Chris did a great job! I can't wait to do it all over again next year when Super can enjoy it a little more and the rest of the family can celebrate with us!

Kal-el's 15 Month Check Up

This morning Chris and I carried Kal-el to see Dr. Melvin for his 15 month check up which of course included shots. Ouch! Our poor Super didn't know what was coming his way. He was a social butterfly from the time he walked. There was another little girl there his age and they played together for a little while in the "well baby" playroom. After the little girl was called back and some time had passed, Kal-el decided that he too would like to go in the exam rooms and see HIS doctor next. Since it obviously was not his turn I had to chase him down the hall and confiscate him wearing 5 inch heels. It's ok I'm a pro :) Daddy bear Chris does most of the toddler carrying when we are together anyway since the leach embarrasses him lol. I grabbed him up as he desperately fought me to get back in one of the exam rooms. A nurse walked by us with an amuzed look on her face. "I bet you've never had one cry to actually go in before have you?" I asked. We both shared a laugh over Kal-el's loud protests. Finally our turn had come. I felt so bad as I thought to myself he is so excited to get back there and pretty soon he will wish we hadn't of come at all. He did just fine during his shots, only crying briefly with lightening fast rebound....yep...that's beacuse he's Superman :) We also got an update on his stats. Usually I am the one that says something eyerolling at the doctors vitists but this time the award goes to my lovely husband, whom upon finding out are son is still in the 95th percentiles for both weight and height commences with his input of..."Oh yea thats my BOI ...somebodys going PRO...Yep your going pro son...woot woot!!!" I just stare blankly at him as crickets chirp in the background....ooooookay. lol So over all we had a wonderful checkup and we are happy that our baby boy is strong and healthy. We have officially completed baby immunizations so Super won't have to go make a trip to see the doctor again until he is 2 years old. As he gets a little older I think we will try to work in something fun to offset doctor visits in the event that they ever become scary because of shots etc. I feel a new toy tradition coming on. :)

Happy Blogging Anniversary to Being the Borquez's

Wow, it's hard to believe that it has been a year ago today, infact almost down to the hour that I began to put our lives on the pages of the Being the Borquez's blog. I love spending time sharing our lives with my readers. I have always had a passion for writing so it's no suprise to me that I'm totally addicted to this past time of mine. So to celebrate this occasion my new blog design will be up and running by tomorrow. I hope everyone likes it as much as I do. I look forward to many years of blogging as I mainly keep this blog so I can print it off every year as a memory book for Kal-el and our family. If there is anything you would like to see more of, anything particular subject you'd like me to address, or if you simply have a question please feel free to ask. Once again, thank you so much for being loyal readers and taking an interest in my little family. Happy Blogging!

With Love XOXO,
