No Mama! JUICE!
This is how my precious son looks most days with his sippy cup........
HOWEVER....there are also days when the "terrible two's" (that I've previously mentioned we are going dealing with) decide to over take my child.
Even though Kal-el is still about two months shy of turning two he hit this lovely stage about a month ago.
The following pictures display his reaction to me pouring him milk instead of JUICE! What in the world was I thinking LOL
"Umm juice thank you Mommy...wait a minute..."
"This isn't JUICE...It's MILK!"
By this time the tantrum insues...
He throws his gross milk sippy to the floor....
Then himself.....lol
Sometime I give in and offer juice (hey.. don't judge a pregnant women I have to pick my battles with Super)..others times I just give him a few minutes of alone time to wind himself down. Often times he's just due for a nap. Then there is my favorite scenario..where he is just happy to sip on whatever is in his sippy. I must say that I do love his independence and I wouldn't have it any other way even as exhausting as it happens to be at present! :-) Talk about a SUPER fit!

Wish I had some fresh strawberries to put in it!
Another Beautiful Winter Wonderland!
And this time we are officially snowed in!!! I don't think we could be happier about it either. Not only is it game day for the National Championship playoff but Chris and I are both off of work with Super to enjoy the snow! We woke up very early to take a peek outside and EVERYTHING was covered. I don't know how long it's been since we've seen a snow like this in Alabama! It's beautiful and there is at least 8-9 inches! We let Kal-el enjoy the outdoors for a few minutes then Chris and I frolicked in the snow with Max and Ginger. Max loved it...he was in his element and could of played all day. Ginger was completely different story. She couldn't make her way back inside fast enough. After playing in the snow we all worked up a pretty big appetite. Nannie made a wonderful homemade breakfast complete with eggs, biscuits, gravy...the WORKS! We all got our tummy's full and headed back home to wait for the game to start. While Kal-el napped I decided to make some snow cream. I told Chris the night before I wanted to make some. He didn't really understand the concept. When I told him that I was going to lay some pots out to catch the snow he looked at me like I was insane lol. I told him that he in fact was the crazy one. Snow is ice cream from Heaven lol! I don't think that my grandfather agreed either he called me to tell me not to make it because it was like eating acid rain! With the entire world against me I managed to forge ahead and make snow cream anyway and I must say that it was super yummy. I used a Paula Dean recipe and was shocked to discover there was no BUTTA involved! :-) Now the only thing to do is wait for game time...5 hours and counting...GO DUCKS!
Burrrrr :)
"What are you doing babe?"
That smile can only mean one thing....SNOWBALL!
Meanness :p
Luckily they were being thrown at Max...and he LOVED it :)
Nose pressed up against the glass..pleeease can I go back out!? :)
Dada stop throwing snow at me!
Such a fun snow day!!!!

16 Week Baby Check Up!
Yesterday was my 16 week check up with Dr. Musgrove. Everything looks wonderful and I got to hear baby #2's heartbeat loud and clear at 155 beats per minute. The nurse was able to locate it right away. Even though I haven't gained much weight this time around baby is already growing at a very healthy pace and my tummy is definitely already out there. Me and these large babies! Guess this explains why I look 6 months prego at 4 months! I'm just greatful that our little one is healthy and so far we have had nothing but wonderful reports. I really try not to be naive and take that fact for granted because I know that not every mommy experiences good news. I want to be thankful for our blessings and enjoy all the little things with this pregnancy. It's true what "they" say ...the second time goes by soooo very fast. The one thing I regret about my pregnancy journey with Kal-el is that I didn't take professional materity pictures...nope I didn't even do at home tummy pictures. I'm going to try to do better this time around. I already have my professional session scheduled in the upcoming months. I want to do something really creative, edgy, and unique but in the mean time these grainy ones from home will have to do for charting baby and my growth. Only 26 more days until Kal-el finds out if he will be a big brother to a sister or a brother!

New Years Eve & New Years Day!
We had a very nice relaxing, laid back New Years Eve & day this year. Kal-el was way overdue for his flu shots so unfortunately a little segment of the day had to be dedicated to this feat. Luckily for us, we were in and out with no problems and almost no tears. Yay :) We decided to spend the rest of the day doing some little things that we enjoy. We made a stop by our local bookstore. They have such a wonderful selection of children's books but not so great selection for the mystery genre that I love. For example, just to name the pros and cons ....the children's selection there is far differnt from Books A Million. The selection at BAM is literally all thrown together. It's a much neater display at Coldwater Books so you can see the best books they have to offer for kiddos. They had an entire little section dedicated to the Llama Llama series. We love those! I wish we could exclusively shop there but some of the adult sections leave much to be desired. I was shocked to walk to the section labeled "mysteries" and only see about 25 books. They were void of even the classics like Agatha Christie. Big let down. We decided to go ahead and head out to BAM and have a look around and enjoy some coffee. We were having a great time, then Chris saw me eyeballing a HUGE LOST book. A $50 HUGE Lost book. He knew that I would not be coming home with a mystery. I walked out of the store with a book the size of my toddler and a smile on my face lol. Fear not Chris also had a date for the night...yep, he replaced the dreaded 360 game system never to be without it again. :) After a quick stop for pizza we headed home to get cozy. We got Kal-el down at about 11..he tried his best to stay up with us but he gave in just shy of 2011. We still managed to still a kiss from each other and him an hour later :)
New Years day we got a very special little suprise. I was laying down with Kal-el as he napped when all of a sudden I felt a little movement in my tummy. I laid really still to see if I could feel it again....and there it was baby #2 making his/her presents known. How sweet! If I had not been laying down I would of missed it altogether. I try to rest when I can but I rarely lie down mainly because Super will not allow it :) The offical word for the first fetal movement felt is called "quickening." Quick literally means "alive." Hopefully I can be still enough to enjoy a lot more of these sweet little movements before the crippling kidney blows and lung punches start in my crammed tummy! Just kidding..even those are welcomed to some degree..means the little one is active and healthy. :)
Lastly, the tree we planted lasted for Kal-el last year on New Year's Day is growing leeps and bounds just like our little superhero himself. I'm so proud that it is now large enough that we can't plow over it with the lawn mower! 2010 has been a great year and I can't wait to see what 2011 has in store for our family. Whatever it brings I find comfort in knowing that we will go thru it together and we will have one more little person to love come June. Happy New Year from the Borquez family and God Bless!
