Bedroom Makeover!

   The much needed bedroom makeover that I mentioned in a previous post took place this week. Aunt Vicki and Harold as well as my Mom were nice enough to come over and help me get the painting done. Chris and I had planned on just doing it ourselves over a few days, however shortly after getting the room primed he got called out. I thought I would be able to wait patiently until he returned in a a day or so to finish up BUT in this state of nesting that proved to be an impossible task. My family would NOT ALLOW me to attempt it alone. Thank God for such a thoughtful, helpful family. Aunt Shane and Aunt Vicki have tried to come over almost every day so they can help clean. So sweet. I may take them up on the offer soon  :) The downstairs bedroom (Mom's old room/guest bedroom) was in desperate need of a make over. I lovingly referred to it as the "holiday room". Although the most represented holiday would have to be Christmas...followed by Easter as a second runner up :)  When you see the before pictures you'll understand why. It literally was 3 different shades..each representing the indecisiveness in room color choices. Originally it was a very traditional deep green then Mom went the shabby chic route so it become a soft green with lots of crystal and pink accents. Fast forward a bit later and a red modern shade was the color of choice. Once my mom got married Chris and I started to sleep downstairs (due to my very pregnant state) the room colors started driving me INSANE. I HAD to decide on a color scheme fast. I'd always wanted to do blues and browns. I just find it very tranquil. I ordered some bedding that I fell in love with and got to work. All that's left to do at this point is the window treatments, hanging art/photos etc.. but I'll go ahead and post a sneak peak of the work in progress. Here's some before and afters :)

Kal-el's LAST Week As an ONLY Child!

   Well this is it...we are mid way through the week. I'm 5 days away from having Logan and believe me I'm counting down.I'm not so sure that I can say the same thing for Super being that he's about to have to share Mommy and Daddy's time and attention! I went into this week knowing that not only would our lives be a little different but Kal-el will be the one adjusting the most I'm sure. We have had SO much going on this week but I wanted to make sure that our first little super hero got to really enjoy himself and be a part of everything.
 Earlier in the week I killed two very GROSS brown spiders, after spending an hour cringing at google images I was absolutely convinced that they were brown recluses. Long story short, I was correct. Fortunately after calling our pest control peeps we were informed that we do NOT have an infestation and general spraying would resolve the issue. That was the first issue of the week. Secondly, we were running waay behind on our mini makeover to the downstairs guest bedroom. When my Mom lived here she changed her mind on not one, not 2, but 3 different occasions as far as the color and theme of the bedroom lol. Since she is no longer here Chris and I decided we would make our bedroom downstairs. This will just make things way easier for the time being. Our steps are very step and I was NOT looking forward to getting a toddler AND a newborn upstairs to bed on the nights that Chris would be called out to work. Plus it was a great excuse to buy new bedding! We've decided to just keep the pack and play by our bed for Logan. Kal-el slept in it for the longest while is pretty nursery bedding stayed untouched! So lesson learned for baby #2. Depending on if we stay in this house a little longer or buy another I'd still like to have the boys share a room since they are so close in age. I'm not crazy about bunk beds but I love the idea of a comic themed (of course) bedroom, with twin beds on each wall. One side painted as the city of Metapolis and the other a Marvel wall. It's just a vision right now and to look amazing it will probably be a pretty expensive mural so I guess I'll start saving now :)
  I still feel like we have a good bit left to do this week. Tomorrow I go back to Dr. Musgrove to check my fluid level for Logan. I have felt him move a good bit so I'm not extremely worried. I'll be really suprised if my fluid has gone down more and even more suprised if they tell me they need to take him tomorrow. I still need to buy a few back up robes for the hospital and decide what little one will be wearing home. And lastly BUT certainly not least I have got to see the new X-men movie before I give birth! :)
 OK so back to Super :) I wanted to share a few pictures from this week so far. He's had tons of fun this last week of being an only child!

                        He LOVES to be naked...I haven't fought him on it this week at all..he's one happy toddler!!!

   By the time I got him in the bath tub he looked like Poppa Smurf, with his white hair and blue paint all over his body. I hope he will enjoy next week as well...even with the new life change. I hope my little superheros are best friends for life. Their Mommy and Daddy sure do love them!

Wordless Wednesday- Late Nights With Daddy on the XBOX :)

Lil Duffel Bag Boy

  It's time to STEP. Pardon the above rap title but Logan is now 38 weeks and the size of ...yes you guessed it..a duffel bag! I had my ultrasound today and found out that my amniotic fluid is getting quite low. They take bambinos OUT if levels go down to a 5..I'm currently at a 6. A little scary, mainly because Chris got called out to Chattanooga at 5 am and had to miss the appointment. Luckily, once I was able to be seen by Dr. Musgrove he assured me that Logan looked great and he didn't anticipate my fluid going down anymore before my scheduled c section. I was holding my breath a little because part of me thought (and maybe even  hoped) that he would need to come out sooner. My mind was just racing about how quickly yet safely Chris could make it to the hospital. My other thoughts were "Oh no Kal-el's 'big brother' shirt isn't in yet and I really need to clean up some more." Typical second time mommy stuff. :) You kind of learn the world doesn't stop spinning and the entire planet isn't 9 months preggo and things still need to be taken care of. As far as dilation is concerned I had made no progression.. however my cervix is now almost completely thinned so the water breaking part could still very realistically happen..I just hope I have enough "water" to be able to tell should it happen that way. Of course I came home and got on the internet..such a horrible idea for me lol...and I'm very anxious about the fluid. It can cause the baby's growth to stop as well as other complications and simply put a baby can not survive without the amount of fluid they need. Since I'm so close to the end I just have to put my trust in God and the medical expertize of my OB. I go back for one final fluid check next Thursday. If it's lower than 5 Logan's birthday will be that day if its the same or improved Kal-el will get to enjoy a few more days as an only child...I'm sure he won't mind an extra 3 days of ALL the attention! The highlight of today's visit, the part that took my mind off the medical concerns if only briefly, was definitely Logan's hair. He has SO MUCH of it. I remember looking back at Kal-el's ultrasound pictures and all his hair floating and us thinking it was A LOT but this child seriously has about 3x the amount. I couldn't help but laugh out loud...I just said wow he's got more hair than Steven Tyler. The ultrasound tech and I had a good laugh. Can't wait to meet you baby Logan..we love you so much!

Book of the Month- I'm a Big Brother

   Better late than never! I've been meaning to get back on track with the book of the month and I think this month's selection is the perfect book to get things started again. As I've said before the reason I love doing the book of the month is because I adore books and I want my children to have something to serve their memories of the books I read to them in childhood. Most of these books aren't deep or groundbreaking in anyway but books are unique to children and a big part of childhood. Some of the most fond memories I have from my own childhood can be triggered with the thought or recognition of a certain book. I know that it's impossible to keep every single book but I want them to have memories of certain books and that time in their lives so I think this will help if they ever want to look back. This month's selection is about becoming a new big brother and welcoming baby brother home. Kal-el is honestly more interested in the stuffed bears on the pages and his most favorite page is the one that contains the ice cream cone but every other page he does manage to blurt out "Baby!" This is as close to comprehension that I'm going to get at this point I'm afraid. But I'll take it :) So looking forward to the Borquez brood being a family of four!
